#10 William Carey Defeats Women's Soccer

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team fell to 10th-ranked William Carey (Miss.), 2-1, in non-conference action, on Saturday.

The Crusaders (2-0) opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Kayee Zetter sent one past the Saint's goalkeeper from a Abby Taylor pass. SHU had three shots on goal in the first half, but were unable to capitalize.

In the 74th minute, Ashley Strong finished a pass form Kelsey Cheaney to tie it 1-1. Less than four minutes later WCU netted the game-winner as Savannah Carter finished a Silvia Leonessi pass.

Taylor Mulder led the Saints (1-2) with three shots, all on goal, while Paige Rachut and Cheaney managed two shots a piece. For William Carey, April Stewart and Leonessi each had two shots.

In goal for Siena Heights, Meghan Bogg made eight saves. Melanie Lefebvre stopped three shots for the Crusaders and earned the win.

Next up, SHU will travel to No. 13 Mobile (Ala.) on Monday with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
