Ten Women's Soccer Players Honored as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Ten Siena Heights women's soccer players were honored as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2016 season as recently announced by the governing body.

Two-time honorees included seniors Morgan Behn, Gabi Corbin, Emily Loar and redshirt-junior Brittany Trout . Also receiving the award were juniors Kayla Cardeccia, Taylor Hill, Megan Kennedy, Rebecca Penny, Erin Scheidel and Rachel Sherman.

Future educators may include Behn, Loar and Scheidel who all major in elementary education. Majoring in mathematics is Cardeccia and Corbin--who also majors in accounting.

Focusing in biology is Hill while Burkman majors in nursing.

Kennedy is majoring in social work as Sherman majors in psychology. Trout majors in sport management. Penny makes her mark as the sole communications major.

The three seniors and seven juniors were also honored as WHAC scholar-athletes, leading the WHAC with 12 total award winners.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. A total of 578 women's soccer players were honored.
