Gordon Lifts #19 Women's Soccer to First WHAC Victory

LIVONIA, Mich. – Kathryn Gordon scored the game-winner for No. 19 Siena Heights women's soccer in a 2-0  victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Madonna in the first conference game of the season, on Saturday.

SHU opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Gordon dribbled through the Madonna defense and finished a shot past the MU keeper.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Emily Loar added some insurance when she finished a pass from Danielle Eastman inside the penalty box, to put the Saints up 2-0. The score would hold for the remainder of the game.

Eastman led the Saints with three shots, all on frame. Kelly Capoccia took five shots for Madonna (3-2-2, 0-1-1), two being in frame.

Taylor Hill earned the win, making three saves in the net for Siena Heights. For Madonna, Julia Stewart stopped six shots.

The Saints outshot Madonna, 13-9, while Madonna held a 6-3 corner kick advantage.

Next up, SHU (5-2-2, 1-0) will take on WHAC opponent Concordia on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
