#6 Women's Lacrosse Hangs On For Victory Over Lourdes in WHAC Match-Up

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 6 ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team held on to defeat Lourdes, 16-15 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday evening. 

SHU started the game on a 4-0 run but Lourdes answered back and brought the score to within one by the end of the first half. The Saints entered halftime with an 11-10 advantage. With 19:54 remaining in the game, the Gray Wolves (8-5, 2-2 WHAC) were able to tie the score. The Saints were able to fight off the Lourdes attack and regain the lead, 27 seconds later and hang on from there. 

Siena Heights was led by Jenna Sommerville with six goals. Kayla Parks and Taylor Swartz contributed four goals each while Marissa Cirino recorded a team high, three assists. Goal Keeper Lizzy Elliott allowed ten goals and made seven saves on 17 shots faced. Mariah Smythe played the second half in net, making six saves and allowing five goals on 11 shots faced. Smythe was awarded the win. 

Tiara Reed and Alyssa Long each scored six goals for the Gray Wolves. Kiley Ketteman suffered the loss in goal after allowing 16 goals and making 11 saves on 27 shots faced. 

Next up, SHU (12-3, 4-2 WHAC) will travel to take on Franciscan (Ohio) on Saturday, April 21. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
