#6 Women's Lacrosse Coasts to Victory Over Concordia in WHAC Play

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 6 ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team traveled to take on Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Saturday. The Saints cruised away with the 21-2 victory over the Cardinals. 

In the first half, Siena Heights scored 14 goals and shut out the Cardinals giving them a 14-0 advantage at the half. In the second half, CUAA scored their first goal of the game, 15 seconds in and did not score again until there was 7:29 remaining in the contest. SHU coasted along for the conference win, improving their overall record to 11-3 and WHAC record to 3-2. 

Siena Heights was led by Jenna Sommerville with six goals, with Taylor Swartz adding four. Marissa Cirino and Swartz each finished with two assists. Mariah Smythe started in goal and made four saves on five shots faced. Rachel Ries replaced Smythe in goal with 10:50 remaining in the game and made three saves while allowing one goal on four shots faced. 

Kimberly Thompson and Kayla Owsley scored the two CUAA goals. Owsley recorded one assist for the Cardinals. Samantha Shatrau suffered the loss in goal, allowing 21 goals and making nine saves on 30 shots faced. 

Next up the Saints will host Lourdes on Wednesday, April 18 in a WHAC contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
