Parks Effort Helps #5 Women's Lacrosse to Victory Over Notre Dame (Ohio)

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Five goals from Kayla Parks led the sixth-ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team to a 16-6 victory over NCAA Div. II Notre Dame (Ohio), on Thursday, in non-conference action.

The Falcons (2-6) opened the scoring in the fourth-minute but fell silent as the Saints tacked on five goals with 17:42 remaining in the first half. Another few goals for Siena Heights earned a halftime lead o 8-3. Each team doubled their score in the second half as SHU coasted to a 16-6 victory.

As Parks earned five goals, four ground balls and four caused turnovers for SHU (7-2). Marissa Cirino and Jenna Sommerville tacked on four goals each, the former also causing two turnovers.

Six different Falcons netted solo shots. Victoria Martin managed six groundballs and six caused turnovers for Notre Dame.

In net, Mariah Smythe earned the win for SIena Heights with eight saves while counterpart Morgan Belting stopped nine shots for the Falcons. SHU managed 17-of-23 clears successfully as NDC earned 12-of-16 successful clears.

Next up, the Saints will host Madonna on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest.
