#4 Women's Lacrosse Rallies Back in Second Half to Defeat Ursuline

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 4 women's lacrosse team hosted Ursuline in a non-conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints rallied back in the second half for the 21-17 victory over the Arrows. 

Siena Heights went into the half, trailing 9-8. Ursuline scored the first three goals of the second half, extending their lead to four, but the Saints were not finished.

With 18:36 left in the contest, SHU scored their ninth goal and went on a 6-0 run and regained the lead, 14-12. From there, SHU was able to hang on and hold off the Arrows. 

SHU was led by Jenna Sommerville with six goals. Natalie Williams and Taylor Swartz each added four goals. Marissa Cirino led the Saints with three assists and also chipped in three goals of her own.

Mariah Smythe started the game in goal, allowed nine goals and made six saves. Lizzy Elliott came in, in the second half and was awarded the win for the Saints. Elliott allowed eight goals and made five saves. 

Ursuline was led by Cydney Bartlett who scored seven goals. Sarah Bader finished with two assists for the Arrows. Emily Hall suffered the loss in goal, allowing 21 goals and making ten saves. 

Next up, SHU will travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Thursday, Mar. 29. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
