#5 Women's Lacrosse Drops Regular-Season Finale To #2 Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The fifth-ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team suffered a 12-8 loss to second-ranked Davenport in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season finale on Sunday.

Kayla Parks and Taylor Swartz had two goals apiece for the Saints (8-6, 4-6). Madison Sabourin added one goal and one assist while Aliisa Mason, Sabrina Snow and Sydney VanHoose tallied single goals.

VanHoose led the team in draw controls with three. Goaltender Tabitha Ferguson, Melanie Curtis and Katelynn Silvernail added three groundballs apiece.

Ferguson had 11 saves in the cage for SHU.

DU (12-3, 9-1) took a 7-2 lead in the first half and that cushion proved valuable throughout the contest. Siena Heights trimmed its deficit to two goals on four different occasions, including three times in the second half, but could not push any closer.

Jessica Lemcke was the Panthers' leading scorer with five goals. Samantha Powers stopped four shots in net.

SHU finished the regular season in a tie for fourth place in the WHAC with Aquinas. Aquinas will assume the WHAC Tournament's fourth seed on a tiebreaker.
