Women's Lacrosse Takes Win at Lourdes

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Stephannie Gonzalez scored five goals and Aliisa Mason put in four goals as the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team defeated Lourdes (Ohio), 18-14, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Tuesday.

Sabrina Snow added three goals while Cynthia Bradford and Victoria Chavis notched two goals each for the Saints (7-7, 3-4), who took the lead for good with a five-goal run in the first half. SHU weathered a second-half rally by Lourdes.

Samantha Skodi and Sydney VanHoose had one goal apiece for Siena Heights. Winning goaltender Tabitha Ferguson stopped 11 shots.

Chavis, Gonzalez, Katie Meagher and Kaitlyn Silvernail made assists for the Saints. Gonzalez also led the squad with five draw controls.

Defensively, Skodi and Beth Giguere finished with three groundballs apiece. Skodi also caused two Lourdes turnovers.

For the Gray Wolves, Katie Cerveny and Faith Fisher scored four goals apiece. Fisher also had two assists. Goalie Amanda Kaczmarek stopped three shots.

Siena Heights will return to action on Friday with a 7 p.m. WHAC contest at Indiana Tech.
