Women's Lacrosse Takes Home-Opening Win over Lourdes

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Stephannie Gonzalez finished with five goals and one assist to lead the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team to an 18-8 victory over Lourdes (Ohio) in Tuesday's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Erin Kehn added four goals and Aliisa Mason contributed three goals and one assist for the Saints (3-3, 1-0), who scored eight straight goals to break a 5-all tie.

Also for SHU, Sabrina Snow had two goals and one assist while Sydney VanHoose compiled one goal and one assist.

Cynthia Bradford, Victoria Chavis and Nicole Yeip also tallied goals. Margaret Hern had an assist in support of winning goalie Tabitha Ferguson, who made 14 saves.

Kehn, Yeip, Hern, Alyssa Mullen and Beth Giguere recorded three groundballs apiece for Siena Heights. Snow and Kehn caused three turnovers each.

For Lourdes (1-6, 0-3), Katie Cerveny scored three goals and Jessie Frost put in two goasl. Single goals were scored by Allison Mazey, Kristi Layman and Molly Porterfield. Mazey also had an assist.

Lourdes goalkeeper Amanda Kaczmarek finished with seven saves. Haley Brown added four groundballs and Riley Paddie finished with three caused turnovers.

The Saints will be in action again on Friday when WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech visits for a 7 p.m. match.
