Women's Golf Earns First Place Team and Individual at IU-Kokomo Invitational

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Ashley Bearden was the individual champion at the IU-Kokomo Invitational as the Siena Heights women's golf team claimed first place on four teams for their second time this season. All five Saints finished in the top-five spots, clinching their victory.

In the two-day, two-round tournament, Bearden finished day one with an 83 and improved to a two-over-par 74 in the final round to claim the individual championship with a 157. Only two strokes behind was Lauren Cojei with a 159 (76-83).

Andrea Richards scored a 161 (85-76) to earn third place while Alyssa Fausneaucht finished with a 162 (83-79) to take home fourth place. The final Saint finishing was Amber Dykstra in fifth place with 172 (92-80).

As a team, Siena Heights shot 636 including a 327 in the first round and a school-record low round of 309 during the second day of the tournament. In second place were hosts IU-kokomo with a 712 overall. Following in third and fourth was Hintington (760) and Ancilla (790).

The Saints will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Lawrence Tech Invitational.
