Fausneaucht Leads Women's Golf to SAU Invite Crown

JACKSON, Mich. -- Alyssa Fausneaucht tied atop the leaderboard individually as the Siena Heights women's golf team won the Spring Arbor Invitational on Friday at Cascades.

Fausneaucht, who shot an 81, tied with Aquinas' Alicia Flood, but lost a three-hole playoff to drop to runner-up.

The Saints fielded 'A' and 'B' teams; while the 'A' team won, the 'B' squad had the third-best score.

Including Fausneaucht, each of the 'A' teamers placed in the Top 12. Andrea Richards tied for sixth with an 86, Lauren Cojei tied for ninth with an 87, and Jessa Rappleye and Andrea Rumler tied for 12th with 88s.

Ashley M. Carney was the 'B' team's top finisher, tying for third with an 84. Ashley Bearden was fifth with an 85 and Katherine Carlson tied for ninth with an 87.

The 'A' team tied with Aquinas at 342, but the fifth-player score for SHU (88) bested that of Aquinas (101).

The SHU 'B' team had a 357 and was followed, in order, by Indiana Wesleyan (361), Cleary (361), Rochester (368), Jackson Community College (368) and Spring Arbor (383).

Siena Heights will compete next at the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree, which Lourdes (Ohio) will host on Monday and Tuesday at Sylvania Country Club.
