Women's Golf Takes Runner-Up at Aquinas Invite

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- Ashley Carney and Ashlyn Samples placed third and sixth, respectively, to lead the Siena Heights women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Aquinas Fall Invitationa. A total of 53 golfers from nine schools competed Wednesday at Scott Lake Country Club.

Carney fired an 80 and Samples had an 86 on the 5,841-yard, par-71 course, for the Saints.

Also for SHU, Jessa Rappleye shot a 90 to tie for 11th while Ashley Bearden and Elisabeth Higgins carded 93s to tie for 15th.

Host Aquinas won the team event with a 346. SHU scored a 349. Cleary's Madison Smith was the medalist, finishing with a 78.

The Saints will compete again on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the third Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamboree. WHAC #3 will occur at Coyote Creek in Fort Wayne, Ind.
