DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's golf team was runner-up at Defiance's Jon P. Spiess Memorial, which took place Sunday at Eagle Rock Golf Club. A total of 39 competitors from six schools participated.

The Saints' top four golfers tied for eighth. The quartet included Alyssa Fausneaucht and Sydney Gossett, who listed on the SHU 'A' team, while Ashley Carney and Elisabeth Higgins competed for the 'B' team. Each golfer carded an 89 on the 5,891-yard, par-71 course.

Also for the Saints' 'A' squad, Lauren Cojei and Andrea Richards fired 90s to tie for 12th.

Bowling Green State (Ohio) won the team event, finishing with a score of 319. The Saints managed a 358 while the 'B' team combined for a 366.

BGSU's Madelynn Swank earned medalist honors with a 75.

The Saints will return to competition on Wednesday at the Aquinas Fall Invitational.
