Women's Bowling Manages 7th and 8th to Open AHIBC Action

AHIBC #1 -- Wayne Bowl

The Lady Saints were in Wayne, Mich on Saturday competing in the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) Jamboree No. 1 at Wayne Bowl. A total of 20 Varsity teams bowled five Team games and 12 Baker games (Baker games are composed of 5 bowlers that bowl 2 frames each to make up a 10 frame game. Bowler #1 bowls frames 1 and 6, Bowler #2 bowls frames 2 and 7, etc.) on a 44 ft. oil pattern.

By the end of the tournament, our Lady Saints knocked over a total of 6,684 pins to finish in seventh place. The Wright State Lady Raiders won the event with a total pin fall amount of 7,119. Leading the SHU women was junior Olivia Cabildo who averaged 192.80, with a high-game of 212, over five team games to finish 16th out of 160 bowlers. Freshman, Taylor Thomas, averaged 190.60, and Junior KaCee Costello averaged 186.20 to finish 23rd and 26th, respectively.

Also bowling for our Lady Saints, Tryna Gladstone averaged 181.75 over 4 games, Tiffany Paraventi averaged 192.00 for 3 games, and Courtney Herron for 3 games averaged 167.00.

AHIBC #2 -- Wayne Bowl

The Lady Saints were in Wayne, Mich. again on Sunday competing in the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) Jamboree No. 2 at Wayne Bowl. A total of 18 Varsity, and 6 Junior Varsity teams bowled four Team games and 16 Baker games on a 39 ft. oil pattern.

A total of 143 bowlers competed in this event and Tryna Gladstone led the way for the Lady Saints by averaging 178.00 over four team games to finish in 17th place. Courtney Herron also finished in the top 50 with a 39th place showing after averaging 163.00 over four games. The scoring pace was much lower on this oil pattern with only two women in the field able to average over 200 for the day.

Helping to push the team to its top 10 finish were: Tiffany Paraventi 146.50 average (four games), KaCee Costello 164.33 average (three games), Olivia Cabildo 163.67 (three games), and Taylor Thomas 153.00 average for two games.

The Lady Saints will be competing in the Adrian College Open on Saturday, November 4, at Lenawee Recreation Center. Start time is 10 a.m.
