Women's Bowling Falls Short in WHAC Quarterfinals

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's bowling team competed in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships on Saturday. The Saints bowled multiple baker games and ended up advancing to the quarterfinals where they fell short.

In round one the Saints were granted a bye, automatically advancing to round two. Round two of the competition took the Saints into five matches. The team pulled through to take a 3-2 win over Indiana Tech, with match scores 179-145, 171-193, 174-209, 196-154 and 181-160.

The Saints fell to Lawrence Tech in round three, 3-1, with match scores of 159-164, 177-156, 178-187 and 159-170. In the next round Siena Heights came out victorious, taking a 3.5-1.5 in over Spring Arbor, advancing to the quarterfinals.

As the quarterfinals began the Saints lost the first game against Northwestern Ohio, 173-201. The women came back strong in the second match with win of 232-162, but the team fell short in the next two matches 168-171 and 176-185.

Aquinas won the WHAC Championships beating Lawrence Tech 2-3 in the finals.

The women's bowling team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Fort. Wayne, Indiana at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) Championships.
