Women's Basketball Defeats LTU For Sixth Straight Win

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Jakarri Alven led the way with 17 points as the Siena Heights women's basketball team earned a 67-47 victory against WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech on Wednesday.

Kayla Hinton added 14 points and seven assists while E'Anna Won contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Saints (24-3, 19-2), who claimed their sixth consecutive win.

The Saints never trailed after scoring the game's first six points. That helped the visitors to a 16-7 lead through one quarter. Six different scorers contributed, led by Alven, who had four.

The host Blue Devils (11-16, 9-12) pulled within 20-17 in the second quarter before SHU ended the half on a 9-2 stretch.

That momentum continued into the second half as the Saints scored eight more points to start the third quarter -- four by Won -- to take a 37-19 lead. SHU held its lead in double-figures the rest of the way.

Siena Heights will finish its regular season on Saturday with a WHAC game at Michigan-Dearborn. The Saints sit in second place and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament, meaning a home game will come to the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
