Women's Basketball Snags 16th Straight Win on Trip to Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team cruised to its 16th consecutive win, taking a 67-46 contest at WHAC opponent Aquinas on Saturday.

Jillian Gelso had 15 points and eight rebounds as she led a quartet of Saint scorers in double-figures.

Kayla Hinton added 14 points and five assists while E'Anna Won contributed 12 points, nine rbeounds and six assists.

Olivia DeLong added a double-double worth 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jakarri Alven grabbed nine rebounds.

Siena Heights outscored Aquinas in every quarter, breaking the game open in the second with a 10-0 run. The Saints turned a 17-12 lead into a 27-12 lead. Gelso started the run with a 3-pointer, DeLong put in the next five points and Hinton added a layup.

SHU held a 58-34 advantage and was again up-to-task on defense, holding Aquinas to 27.1 percent (13 of 48).

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. WHAC home game against Lourdes.
