Women's Basketball Begins Season Against Lawrence Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team begins the 2018-19 season on the road against Lawrence Tech on Thursday, November 1. The game is set for a 7:00 p.m., opening tip. The Saints went 18-13 overall and 11-9 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play last year. 

This will be the 14th meeting between Lawrence Tech and Siena Heights in women's basketball. The Saints currently hold a 7-6 advantage in the all-time series. Lawrence Tech swept the season series last year with wins of 70-57 and 72-54 to increase the current winning streak to four.

The Saints return four of the team's five leading scorers from last season: Demi Russell (10.4 PPG), Alyssa Larson (10.1 PPG), Addyson Tomczak (8.6), and Sharmaine Wills (7.7). Larson, Wills, and Russell also led Siena last season in rebounds per game with 7.9. 7.3, and 5.4 respectively.

The Blue Devils were ranked 21st in the 2018-19 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll on October 23. Lawrence Tech has started the season 2-0 with wins over Ohio Christian (87-49) and Point Park (70-56). Nicole Buckingham leads LTU with 24.5 points per game. She is also the team's leading rebounder with 12.5 a game. Kendall Fisher is scoring 12.5 points per game and has eight assists. Danielle Hanson rounds out the top-three in scoring for the Blue Devils with 9.5 points per game thus far. She is also second on the team in rebounds per game with 8.5.
