Russell Named to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Second Team

Siena Heights women's basketball sophomore, Demi Russell was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference second team as announced by the league on Thursday. 

Russell leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game -- shooting 42.2% from the floor, and the second leading rebounder, pulling down 5.4 boards per contest. She has helped lead the Saints to a 18-12 overall record and 11-9 conference record. SHU will enter WHAC Tournament play on Thursday, as the seventh seed and will take on the second seed, Lawrence Tech.

Juniors, Haley Hoffman, Alyssa Larson, Clara Waidley and Sharmaine Wills were all named as members of the WHAC All-Academic team. In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Clara Waidley was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Champions of Character team. This student-athlete best represents the five core character values of the WHAC which are integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

The Siena Heights women's basketball team will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 22 when they take on No. 20 Lawrence Tech in the WHAC tournament quarterfinals. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
