Women's Basketball Falls to Rochester in Overtime

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team went on the road Wednesday, to take on Rochester in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest. The Saints fell to the Warriors, 69-68 in overtime. 

The score was close throughout and the Saints (16-12, 9-9 WHAC) went into halftime with a two point advantage. Rochester quickly regained the lead in the third, but SHU managed to fight, and take back control by the end of the third period. The Warriors tied the ball game ten seconds into the fourth quarter and it stayed neck and neck until the end, sending it to overtime. In the extra frame, RC ran out to a six point lead and the Saints were unable to recover. 

From the floor the Saints finished 25-68 (36.8%), 6-25 (24%) from three and 12-24 (50%) from the charity stripe. Rochester shot 25-56 (44.6%) from the field, 5-17 (29.4%) from behind the arc and 14-21 (66.7%) from the line. 

Alyssa Larson led the Saints scoring with 14 points and added six rebounds. Clara Waidley and Kiana Votava followed close behind, adding 13 each, while Demi Russell chipped in 12 points and a team high seven rebounds. Azalea Miller dished out a Siena Heights best, five assists. 

Rochester (14-11, 9-8 WHAC) was led by Allyssa Copley with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Maddy Valko added 18 points for the Warriors. 

Next up, the Saints will host Aquinas in the final regular season home game, next Wednesday, Feb. 14. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.
