Tomczak and Larson Lift Saints to Victory Over Cornerstone in WHAC Play

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team traveled to take on Cornerstone in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints were able to bring home the victory, 73-57.

After one quarter the score was tied at 17. The Saints held the Golden Eagles to eight point in the second period and scored 16 points themselves to head into halftime, up eight. Siena Heights scored 24 points in the third period to open the margin to 13 points and were able to hang on throughout the fourth to walk away with the victory. 

SHU finished 31-54 (57.4%) from the field, 7-14 (50%) from three and 4-7 (57.1%) from the free throw line. Cornerstone shot 20-61 (32.8%) from the floor, 3-8 (37.5%) from behind the arc and 14-16 (87.5%) from the charity stripe. 

Addyson Tomczak led the Saints (15-11, 8-8 WHAC) in scoring with 25 points on 6-8 (75%) shooting from three. Alyssa Larson also was a difference maker in the contest, scoring 14 points and pulling down ten rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Azalea Miller was also huge for the Saints as she managed 16 points, seven assists and three steals. Demi Russell also added double-figure scoring with 12 points. 

For Cornerstone (15-10, 10-5 WHAC), Lizzy Otten and Shaina DenBesten each scored 12 points. Shelby Nyboer grabbed a team high four rebounds while Jesse Sheridan dished out three assists. 

Next up, the Saints will head to Lourdes for a WHAC contest on Saturday, Feb. 3. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
