Larson Double-Double Not Enough as Women's Basketball Falls to #9 Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. – Alyssa Larson ended with a double-double, but it wasn't enough as the Siena Heights women's basketball team fell, 71-54, to ninth-ranked Indiana Tech. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up took place on Saturday.

The first quarter stayed close, the Warrior's (19-2, 10-1 WHAC) largest lead at the end of the quarter, 19-13. IT Tech jumped to a quick 11-point lead, 24-13, with 8:09 on the clock. SHU worked hard, trimming the Warrior's lead to 31-24 at halftime.

Siena Heights (11-9, 5-6 WHAC) came out strong in the third quarter, coming within two of Indiana Tech with 5:45 on the clock at 36-34. Again, SHU came within two with 53 second on the clock, but an IT Tech three-point set SHU back five, 49-44 at the end of the third. A strong third quarter set the Warriors apart, outscoring SHU 22-10, to earn a 71-54 victory.

Larson led SHU with 16 points and 18 rebounds while Azalea Miller tacked on 12 points and two assists. Demi Russell added 10 points for the Saints.

The Warriors were led by Kendall Knapke with 15 points and six boards. With 16 rebounds was Keanna Gary, also adding five assists. DeAnn Kauffman tallied 13 points for Indiana Tech as Bella Lozano-Dobbs and Rachel Bell each added 12 points.

As a team, Siena Heights shot 23-68 (33.8%) from the floor, 4-16 (25.0%) behind the arc and 4-8 (50.0%) from the line. The Warriors finished 25-58 (43.1%) overall, including 7-19 (36.8%) in three-point land and 14-23 (60.9%) from the charity stripe.

Next up, the Saints will host Concordia on Wednesday in a 6 p.m. WHAC contest.
