Women's Basketball Defeats Michigan-Dearborn in WHAC Contest

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Michigan-Dearborn in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Saturday. The Saints won the match-up, 71-52.

Siena Heights (4-6, 2-3 WHAC) was in control from the beginning, winning the first quarter, 22-14. Michigan-Dearborn (4-9, 0-6 WHAC) outscored the Saints in the second quarter and sent SHU into halftime with a 35-29 advantage. In the third period, Siena Heights was able to open the margin, scoring 25 points in the frame and holding the Wolverines to eight and coasting to the victory from there.

Sharmaine Wills led the Saints offense with 16 points, shooting 6-12 from the field for 50% and 4-4 from the free throw line. Wills also added seven rebounds. Demi Russell and Addyson Tomczak also added double-figure scoring for Siena Heights with 12 and 11 respectively. Alyssa Larson finished with a team high, eight rebounds while Azalea Miller dished out a team high, five assists.

From the field, SHU went 26-55 (47.3%) and 4-17 (23.5%) from three. From the free throw line, the Saints finished 15-18 for 83.3%. Michigan-Dearborn went 20-62 from the floor (32.3%), 9-28 (32.1%) from behind the arc, and only shot six free throws on the night, making three of them (50%).

Next up, the Saints will travel to take on WHAC opponent, Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
