#22 Women's Basketball Drops Contest to #21 Saint Francis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The No. 22 Siena Heights women's basketball team traveled to take on the 21st ranked Saint Francis (Ind.). The Saints dropped the contest with a final score of 58-43.

SHU started the contest strong, finishing the first quarter with a four point advantage and then entered halftime with a 24-21 lead. Siena Heights and Saint Francis each scored 11 in the third period, but the fourth quarter is when the Cougars caught fire and overtook the Saints. In the fourth quarter, SFU scored 26 points to just eight scored by SHU.

Sharmaine Wills lead the Saints with 14 points and nine rebounds. Alyssa Larson also added six points and five boards, while Demi Russell contributed six points off the bench. Clara Waidley helped the Siena Heights defense with three steals and two Saints finished with three assists -- Azalea Miller and Ashley Perry.

From the floor, SHU shot 16-44 for 36.4%, 3-12 for 25% from three and 8-13 for 61.5% from the free throw line. Saint Francis went 17-50 from the floor for 34% and then doubled the Saints in three point makes, going 6-20 for 30%. From the charity stripe, SFU finished shooting 12 more free throws and making eight more than SHU, knocking down 18 of 25 attempts for 72%.

Next up, the Saints will head to Ann Arbor to take on Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
