#7 Davenport Defense Shuts Down #22 Women's Basketball in WHAC Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Micb. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team fell 77-39 to Davenport in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship, on Monday.

After the first quarter, the Saints trailed 6-17. SHU improved the second quarter, down by four, 25-29, heading into halftime.

The Saints were shutdown the remainder of the game, scoring six points in the third quarter and four points in the fourth quarter.

April Watson earned a double-double for the Saints (24-9) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jaaliyah Arrington scored seven points while Sharmaine Wills put-up six points and added three assists.

For the Panthers (30-3), Emily Severn led with 20 points and Mallory Sewell tacked on 12 points.

SHU went 14-65 from the floor while shooting 3-16 behind the arc. Overall, Davenport shot 22-55 while going 4-11 in three-point land. From the charity stripe, Siena Heights went 8-19 and the Panthers shot 29-40.

As runner-up in the WHAC Tournament, the Saints sealed their ticket to the NAIA National Tournament starting on Wednesday, March 8. Their first game will be annouced at a later date.
