Watson Records 30 Points and 20 Rebounds as Saints Advance to WHAC Semifinals

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 22 ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Cornerstone in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Wednesday. The Saints came away with the 74-49 victory.

SHU was in control from the beginning after taking a 19-10 lead after the first period. Siena Heights was able to build on that margin in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 34-22 advantage. 

After the third, the Saints (23-8 overall) increased their lead to 14, but ran away in the fourth, out scoring the Golden Eagles 21-10 in the final frame. 

April Watson had an outstanding night, recording 30 points and matching her career high, 20 rebounds. Jaaliyah Arrington added 13 points and five boards, while Azalea Miller knocked in 10 points and added a team high, four assists. 

For Cornerstone (14-17 overall), Jesse Sheridan finished with 26 points. Cass Vredevoogd grabbed a team high seven rebounds and added six points. 

For the game, Siena Heights shot 32-68 (47.1%) from the field, 5-14 (35.7%) from three, and 5-13 (38.5%). Cornerstone went 17-59 (28.8%) from the floor, 6-17 (35.3%) from behind the arc and 9-12 (75%) from the charity stripe. 

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 25 when they travel to take on No. 17 Indiana Tech in the WHAC tournament semifinals. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
