Women's Basketball Cruises to Victory Over Marygrove

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Marygrove in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, and ran away with a 81-43 victory.

The Saints (12-6, 5-5 WHAC) started the game on an 11-0 run and took off from there. After one, SHU was in control with a 25-11 lead and expanded the margin even more throughout the second period. At halftime Siena Heights went into the locker room with a 47-22 lead.

With 3:54 left in the third quarter the Saints stretched their advantage to 30 points and that proved to be too much for the Mustangs (3-16, 1-9 WHAC). SHU cruised to the victory from there.

Clara Waidley and April Watson led the Saints with 16 points a piece. Watson completed her second double-double of the new year, pulling down 12 boards. Jaaliyah Arrington added 12 points, on 4-6 shooting (67%) from three, and four assists.

For the Mustangs, Elisha Major put in a team high 15 points, while Leija Masinovic contributed 10 points. Breanna Thomas led Marygrove with 10 rebounds.

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, when they travel to Lourdes for a WHAC match-up. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
