Women's Basketball Falls to Aquinas in WHAC Match-Up

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints dropped the contest in a 57-54 battle. 

SHU got off to a slow start, scoring just seven points in the first period to AQ's 10. In the second quarter, the SHU Saints outscored the Aquinas Saints by one and went into halftime down two with a score of 26-24.

In the third, Siena Heights was able to outscore Aquinas again and went into the final frame trailing by one point. With 6:03 left in the game, AQ opened their lead to six points and SHU was not able to recover.

Jaaliyah Arrington led the Saints in scoring with 14 points. April Watson contributed a double-double of 11 points, and a career high, 19 rebounds. Ashley Perry added 11 points and four steals. 

For Aquinas, Katie Theut scored a team high 19 points while Deiona Rogers added seven points and a team high 11 rebounds. 

The Saints are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 7, when they host Marygrove in a WHAC contest. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
