Watson, Arrington Efforts Help Saints to Victory Over Northwestern Ohio

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Northwestern Ohio in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday and walked away with the 65-53 victory. 

The Saints started the game on a 10-0 run. The Racers were able to bring the score to within five, but by the end of the first period, SHU was holding on to a 12 point advantage. Siena Heights maintained their double digit lead throughout most of the second period and went into halftime up 12 again, with a score of 39-27.

In the third period SHU continued to pour it on and reached a 20 point margin with 2:10 left in the quarter on an Ashley Perry, made free-throw. But UNOH was not finished. They fought their way back to within six, with 2:58 left in the game, but the Saints were able to hold off the Racer's comeback efforts. 

SHU was led in it's victory by April Watson and Jaaliyah Arrington. Watson finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Arrington added 15 points off of five three-pointers, shooting 42% from behind the arc. Clara Waidley was the third Siena Heights scorer in double figures with ten. Sharmaine Wills led the Saints on the glass with 14 rebounds. 

Northwestern Ohio was led by Sogona Sidibe with 14 points and seven rebounds. Linda Ulasi was the Racer's leader in rebounds with ten. 

The Siena Heights women's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 10, when they host Lawrence Tech in a WHAC match-up. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m., following the women's JV contest, set for a 3 p.m. start.
