Women's Basketball Drops WHAC Contest to Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up on Wednesday and dropped the contest 78-72.

The score was close throughout the first quarter with the Saints scoring the first two buckets of the game. CUAA quickly rallied to take their first lead at 7-5. At the end of one, the game was tied at 16-16.

In the second quarter, SHU reached their largest lead of nine points at 25-16, on a three-point basket made by Jaaliyah Arrington. Siena Heights entered halftime with a three point advantage.

The Cardinals weren't finished, quicking regaining the lead early in the third quarter. The Saints had one more push left in them and was able to take a one point lead with 8:04 left in the fourth period. Soon after, Concordia finished the go-ahead bucket and never looked back.

April Watson led the Saints with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Azalea Miller finished the night with 12 points. Jaaliyah Arrington and Clara Waidley each added nine points for SHU.

CUAA was led by Kari Borowiak with 16 points and five assists. Mia Long and Michelle Murnen each contributed 14 points. 

The Siena Heights women's basketball team will be back in action, Saturday, Nov. 19, when they host Indiana Tech in a WHAC battle. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
