Women's Basketball Falls to Cornerstone in WHAC Match-Up

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights (1-1, 0-1 WHAC) women's basketball team traveled to take on Cornerstone (3-2, 1-0 WHAC) for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday. The Saints dropped the contest 59-56.

SHU trailed 24-14 after the first quarter, then began to close the gap throughout the second making the half time score, 34-29 with the Golden Eagles still in control. After the third, Siena Heights was only trailing by one with a score of 48-47 going into the final quarter. Cornerstone outscored the Saints 12-8 in the fourth to seal the victory.

April Watson led the Saints with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jaaliyah Arrington added 12 points, while Azalea Miller contributed five points, seven assists and two steals. 

Cornerstone was led by Jesse Sheridan with 21 points and Lizzy Otten with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Siena Heights women's basketball team will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 14, when they host Saint Francis (Ind.) in a non-conference battle. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
