Women's Hoops Drops Close Contest to Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball dropped a 68-66 contest against Indiana Tech in a conference contest, on Wednesday.

The game went back and forth for the duration of the competition. The Warriors (14-9, 10-5) had the largest lead of the night in the first quarter, 10-2, with 5:26 remaining.

It was tied, 57-57, with 5:53 on the clock. The Saints fell behind on a 7-2 run, trailing 66-59 with 3:16 remaining. Lauren Wirth put SHU within one point with 11 seconds left in the game after finishing a free throw. Siena Heights couldn't hold on and fell by two points. 

Three Saints finished with three players scoring in double-digits. Wirth ended the game with a double-double, 18 points and 13 rebounds. She was followed by Jaaliyah Arrington and Azalea Miller, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Indiana Tech's leading scorer was Haley Cook, finishing with 13 points. Three other Warriors finished in double-digits, all four combining for 45 points.

Overall, Siena Heights shot 26-62 (41.9 percent) from the field, similar to the Warriors who shot 23-55 (41.8 percent). In free throws, SHU made 9 of 18 (50.0 percent) while Indiana Tech made 15 of 21 (71.4 percent).

Siena Heights (13-10, 7-8) will be back in action to play Marygrove on the road. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
