Women's Basketball Suffers First Lost to Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team suffered its first lost to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic opponent Cornerstone, 71-60, on Wednesday.

The Saints were leading 7-0 only four minutes into the game until the hosting Golden Eagles made an 11 point run to steal the lead from SHU. Cornerstone would hold the lead until the fourth period when the Saints tied the game, 48-48, with 9:16 remaining in the game.

Siena Heights fought hard in the time remaining, but it was not enough to hold the Golden Eagles at bay.

With a double-double, April Watson was the Saints' standout performer. She put up 20 points and hauled in 12 rebounds. Ra'Shawn Calvert scored eight points and had two assists. Jaaliyah Arrington, who also scored eight points, brought in three rebounds.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Southfield to take on Lawrence Tech, at 1 p.m.
