#21 Women's Hoops Outlasts LTU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Sierra Calhoun finished with 21 points and seven rebounds as the 21st-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team outlasted Lawrence Tech for a 72-64 victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action at the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

Najee Brazzle and Ebony Harvey added 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Alexxis Knannlein made three blocks to move into a tie for the program's single-season block record.

Also for the Saints (23-6, 17-4), Mackenzie Tomasik had eight rebounds, Knannlein grabbed eight boards, Brazzle made five assists and Harvey dished four assists.

Siena Heights jumped out to an early lead, leading 22-13 in the first half, before the visiting Blue Devils got back into the game with a 13-2 run. LTU (12-13, 10-11) eventually took a 34-32 lead into intermission.

In the second half, Lawrence Tech led 45-43 before SHU took command with a 20-3 stretch and grabbed the lead for good. Calhoun scored seven points during that stretch while Jessie Arnold put in six.

The Devils closed within seven points on one occasions, but could not come any closer.

Allison Bicknell was LTU's leading scorer with 19 points. Hali Butler added 11 points and seven rebounds.

All three Knannlein blocks occurred in the first half; the third was her 46th of the season as she pulled even with Peg Mulherin, who set the original record of 46 in 1979-80.

The Saints will wrap up their regular season on Sunday with a 2 p.m. WHAC contest at Aquinas.
