Calhoun Becomes All-Time Free Throws Leader in #18 Women's Hoops Loss to #2 DU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Sierra Calhoun scored 21 points and became Siena Heights' all-time leader in made free throws, but the 18th-ranked Saints' women's basketball team dropped a 71-52 decision to second-ranked Davenport during Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action at the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

Calhoun, who went 7 of 12 from the free-throw line, reached 373 made freebies and passed the previous record-holder -- and SHU Hall of Famer -- Sheila Landerschier (367).

Also for SHU, Jessie Arnold compiled a double-double worth 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Saints and Panthers traded early streaks before a 10-point DU outburst helped the Panthers to a 32-24 halftime advantage. Tiesha Stokes scored six points and Daina Grazulis put in four during the visitors' 10-0 stretch.

After SHU closed its deficit to 36-33, Alex Law led the Panthers on a 15-4 run. Law buried a trio of three-pointers as Davenport (19-0, 13-0) stretched its lead to 51-37.

Siena Heights (15-5, 10-3) made one last push, shrinking the gap to 55-46, before DU pulled away for good.

Grazulis had 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Panthers. Law added 14 points while Kia Frazier came through with four steals.

SHU held a 48-37 rebound advantage, but committed 26 turnovers to Davenport's nine.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. WHAC contest at Concordia.
