Strong Start Propels #17 Women's Hoops Past UNOH

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Sierra Calhoun scored 18 points and Alexxis Knannlein compiled a double-double worth 14 points and 11 rebounds as the 17th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team cruised past Northwestern Ohio for a 78-54 victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action at the SHU Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Lauren Wirth added 11 points and Mackenzie Tomasik contributed 10 rebounds for the Saints (15-4, 10-2), who led the entire way.

Siena Heights had a strong offensive showing in the first half -- 16 of 36 from the field (44.4 percent), 6 of 11 from three-point land (54.5 percent) and 10 of 12 from the free-throw line (83.3 percent) -- and twice led by 25.

After taking a 48-27 advantage into halftime, SHU held its lead in double-digits the rest of the way.

Shakeia Salters scored 14 points to lead UNOH (8-12, 6-6). Madison Coldren added 12 points.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday when they host No. 2-ranked Davenport for a 6 p.m. WHAC tip-off.
