#13 Women's Basketball Holds Off UNOH

LIMA, Ohio -- Sierra Calhoun scored 24 points and Najee Brazzle contributed 15 points as the 13th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team held off Northwestern Ohio for an 80-71 victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Calhoun's impressive statline also included five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. Alexxis Knannlein added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists while Mackenzie Tomasik hauled down 12 rebounds for the Saints (8-2, 6-1).

SHU trailed early, 10-4, before assuming a 34-31 halftime lead.

During the second have, the Saints used seven consecutive points -- four by Knannlein and a 3-pointer by Brazzle -- to push its advantage to 48-37.

Calhoun gave the Saints their largest lead, hitting a 3-ball to put SHU ahead, 60-42, with 12:06 left.

Northwestern Ohio eventually closed its deficit to five points on Madison Coldren's 3-point play with 1:07 to go, but that is as close as the Racers would get.

Siena Heights closed the game by making 8 of 10 free throws.

Eboni Adams was the Racers' leading scorer, finishing with 16 points. Four other UNOH players found their way into double-figure points: Sammi Dervisevic (14), Natalie Billing (12), Coldren (11) and Shakeia Salters (10).

Coldren and Billing added eight and seven rebounds, respectively, while Salters accumulated five steals and four assists for UNOH (5-7, 3-4).

The Saints will return to action on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. non-conference home contest against NCAA Division III opponent Alma.
