#16 Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Mackenzie Tomasik scored 19 points and Alexxis Knannlein compiled a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds as the 16th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team claimed a 75-50 win over Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.

Sierra Calhoun added 17 points for the Saints (3-0, 2-0), who were 31 of 59 from the field (52.5 percent). Calhoun also had three assists. She and Knannlein made two and three blocks, respectively.

Siena Heights never trailed, breaking an 8-all tie and leading the rest of the way.

SHU scored 12 consecutive points -- part of a 21-4 run for the Saints -- to take a 29-12 first-half lead. During that run, Knannlein and Calhoun scored seven points each while Tomasik put in five.

In the second half, Morgan Warfield gave SHU its largest lead at 63-33 with 11:07 to go. From there, the host Warriors (2-5, 2-1) trimmed their deficit to 24 on four occasions, but could not pull any closer.

Linsey Masnari led Indiana Tech with 15 points while Baylee Rinehart put in 11. Rayana Villalpando added six rebounds and three assits.

The Saints will return to play on Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. home WHAC contest against Michigan-Dearborn.
