The Blue Devils scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the 1st-inning when a wild pitch scored the LTU runner on third base.

The Saints moved a runner into scoring position twice after the opening inning but failed to get a run across home plate. Siena left a total of seven on base in the game. The best scoring chance for the Saints came in the top half of the 4th-inning when Ashley Bearden (who was pinch running for Ward after she hit a single to right field) moved to second base after Kelsey Uhl singled off a bunt with no outs. Lawrence Tech got out of the inning with a foul out, fly out, and a strikeout in consecutive SHU batters for the three outs.

The final opportunity for the Saints came in the 6th-inning when Ward was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Kayla Boland, but the final out of the inning was recorded on the next play to keep things at 1-0.
