Softball Honored As Top Ten Academic Team, 17 Students Honored

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) honored the top academic teams, and scholar athletes for the 2017-18 academic year with Siena Heights honored as a Top Ten NAIA team, and 17 students honored as well.

Siena Heights was the #4 team in the NAIA with a grade point average of 3.591.  This is the fourth year in a row the Saints have been a top ten team, and fifth time overall (2012-13, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18).  There were 36 NAIA teams who earned the honor as a NFCA Academic Team (3.0 GPA or higher).

The Saints had a NAIA high 17 student honored with the NFCA Scholar Athlete award.  In order to qualify for the award, a student must earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA during the academic year.   The Saints who were honored were Lexi Agers, Ashley Bearden, Ashley Best, Lauren Best, Jordan Bianchi, Kayla Boland, Kelsey Cherry, Skylar Crenshaw, Paige Dean, Ashley Helmink, Taylor Mowery, Amy Nordstrom, Dani Nowak, Erika Schwartz, Bailee Taylor, Vanessa Wandrie, and Racquel Ward.
