Softball Falls to Indiana Tech to Open WHAC Tournament; Second Game Postponed to Thursday

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped the first game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament to Indiana Tech, 3-0, on Wednesday. The second game of the night was postponed due to lightening in the area.

The game started out slow as each team only managed one hit in the first three innings of action. At the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors (15-32) made their move, capitalizing on SHU errors to score three runs while earning three hits. Siena Heights couldn't string any hits together, managing only two hits for the full game.

Taylor Mowery and Kelsey Cherry each earned hits for SHU (22-13) while Sierra had two hits for ITT while M. Ohnesorge earned a hit and two RBI.

In the circle for the Saints, Racquel Ward threw seven innings while allowing six hits and three unearned runs with five strikeouts. Indiana Tech's pitcher Shonka allowed only two hits while striking out four batters.

Siena Heights will return to action on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pacesetter Park, where they will face Michigan-Dearborn in a must win contest.
