Softball Wins One Against CUAA Before Game Two Suspends Due to Weather

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights softball team picked up a 4-2 victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent Concordia, on Wednesday, prior to a second game being suspended due to darkness.

Game one started out slow as no one scored through the first three innings. SHU tallied a run in the top of the fourth after Racquel Ward earned a single to center field, followed by a Skylar Crenshaw single. An Amy Nordstrom groundout brought in pinch runner Kayla Boland to give SHU the 1-0 advantage. The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with two runs, including a home run and a single. SHU answered back with three runs in the sixth inning, Bailee Taylor sent home Crenshaw and Ward from a pinch hit single.

Skylar Crenshaw led the Saints (14-9, 6-3 WHAC) as she went 3-for-4 while Lexi Agers went 2-for-3. Earning RBIs for the Saints was Taylor Mower, Nordstrom and Taylor. Four separate Cardinals earned hits with Julianne Venier and Jenna Lowney each managing an RBI.

Ward pitched a complete game for Siena Heights, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six to earn the win. Samantha Eubanks took the loss in the first game for the Cardinals (10-16, 3-4 WHAC), as SHU earned 10 hits and four runs to Eubanks three strikeouts.

The score for game two stands as the Saints trail the Cardinals, 7-2, heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. The contest will be completed on Saturday at a time yet to be determined.

The Saints will return to action on Thursday in a WHAC double-header against Indiana Tech.
