Softball Falls to UM-Dearborn in Extra Innings

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team resumed action with UM-Dearborn on Saturday. The game was started on March 24, and was halted in the top of the eighth inning with a score of 4-4, due to darkness and was picked back up from the point where it was left. The Saints dropped the contest in eight innings by a score of 9-6.

UM-Dearborn scored two runs in the first and the Saints were able to answer and tie the score in the second. The Wolverines scored two more in the fourth and Siena Heights tied it again in the fifth. Both teams were scoreless in the sixth and seventh, sending the game to extra innings. In the eighth, UM-Dearborn scored five runs to grab the lead. Siena Heights scored two runs in the eighth on a two run homer by Kris Forest but it was not enough. Forest went 2-for-5, scoring one run and knocking in three RBI's. Kyndle Wolfinger went 3-for-4 and crossed the plate twice. Lindsay Brandon pitched seven innings and suffered the loss while striking out four. Lesley Ducat came in for relief pitching .1 innings before Kayla Kormos closed the contest pitching .2 innings.

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, May 3, when they travel to Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
