Softball Splits Double-Header With Cardinal Stritch

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team hosted Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.) in a non-conference double-header on Saturday. The Saints split the day after dropping game one 15-7 in five innings and then grabbing the victory in game two by a score of 7-2.

A hot first two innings for the Wolves made it tough for the Saints throughout. CSU scored six in the first and eight in the second giving them a 14-1 lead. SHU battled and brought home four runs in the third but it would not be enough. Skylar Crenshaw went 2-for-2, scoring one run and recording one RBI. Megan Jones and Lindsay Brandon both finished 2-for-3 at the plate each scoring two runs. Brandon added a team high, three RBI's on a three run home run in the third. Suffering the loss in the circle for the Saints was Lesley Ducat, pitching 1.1 innings. Lauren Best came in for relief in the second and pitched .1 innings before Brandon came in for the remainder of the game, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two.

In game two the Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two. Siena Heights scored another two in the third while holding Cardinal Stritch to one in each of the third and fourth innings before scoring one more of their own in the fifth. SHU was able to hold on from there. Kyndle Wolfinger went 3-for-4 while scoring two runs and finishing with one RBI. Kenya Keller went 2-for-3 scoing two runs while Kris Forest and Megan Jones each knocked in two RBI's. Lindsay Brandon pitched the full game, grabbing the win and four strike outs. 

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, May 3, when they travel to Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
