Softball Falls Twice to Madonna in WHAC Action

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team hosted Madonna in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header and dropped both contests by scores of 12-2 in five innings in game one and 7-2 in game two.

In game one Madonna took off in the first inning scoring three runs. In the second the Crusaders crossed the plate twice and then brought in seven runs in the third. The Saints scored once in the third and fifth but it was not enough to handle Madonna's hot hitting. Going 2-for-3 was Kris Forest, and also recording two RBI's. Kyndle Wolfinger went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored one run. Kayla Kormos pitched two innings and suffered the loss while striking out two. Lindsay Brandon came in to pitch one inning before Lauren Best pitched the final two.

Game two started with two scoreless innings before Madonna opened scoring with one run in the third. Kris Forest homered over the left field wall in the fourth, to tie the ballgame. In the sixth, Madonna poured on four runs, two SHU's one, and another two in the seventh to secure the win. Forest went 2-for-3, grabbing two RBI's and scoring one run on her home run. Wolfinger went 2-for-4 and scored one run for Siena Heights. Lesley Ducat pitched 6.2 innings and recorded the loss before Lauren Best came in for relief in the seventh.

The Saints will be back in action on Tuesday, April 25 when they host Cleary in a non-conference double-header. Games are set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
