Softball Splits a Pair at Lourdes

The Siena Heights Softball Team split a pair of WHAC games at Lourdes on Saturday.

In the first game, they found themselves down 5-0 going into the 4th, but scored 4 in the fourth, one in the fifth and eight in the sixth to eventually take the lead and win by a final of 13-8.

Leading the way for the Saints offensively was Kyndle Wolfinger who was 2-4 with a run scored, Kenya Keller scored a run, Kris Forest had a hit and RBI, Megan Jones had two hits and a run, Hannah Bleikamp had two hits, two runs and two RBI, Kelsey Cherry had two hits a run, and a RBI, Lexi Agers added two hits, a double, two runs and two RBI, and Amy Nordstrom had two hits, a double, a run, and three RBI.  Lesley Ducat started on the mound, throwing the first three innings and striking out two.  Kayla Kormos came on in relief to earn the win, striking out three in her four innings.

In game two, the Saints took the lead in the first, but found themselves down 4-2 after three, they tied the game up in the fourth only to see themselves fall behind again in the 5th.  After tying the game in the top of the 6th, Lourdes got a two out base hit in the bottom of the 7th for the walk off win.

Offensively, Wolfinger went 4-5 with two runs, Keller added two hits and a RBI, Forest had a hit and a run, Jones added two hits, a run and two RBI, Bleikamp had a run and a RBI, Agers had a hit and run, Nordstrom added a RBI, Ashley Helmink had a key two RBI hit in a pinch hit appearance, and Hailey Fox had two hits and a run.  Lindsay Brandon got the start on the mound, throwing 4.1 innins and striking out two.  Kormos took the loss in relief, striking out one and allowing three hits in her 2.1 innings.

With the split, the Saints move to 25-11-1 on the season and 10-7-1 in the WHAC.  They will wrap up their WHAC schedule tomorrow when they host Madonna at 1 pm.
