Softball Splits with Concordia in WHAC Double-Header

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team hosted Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header on Thursday. The Saints split, dropping the first game by a score of 6-4, before winning the second by a score of 4-3.

In the first game, Concordia (14-23, 7-5 WHAC) got off to a quick start, scoring twice in the second and three times in the third and held on for the rest of the game. SHU scored once in the third and fourth, and twice in the sixth but it was not enough. Megan Jones and Hannah Bleikamp each finished 2-for-3, with one RBI each. Lexi Agers and Hailey Fox both went 2-for-4, and Agers was able to score a run for Siena Heights. Lesley Ducat pitched 2.1 innings and suffered the loss. Ducat was relieved by Kormos who pitched 4.2 innings.

In game two, Siena Heights (22-10-1, 7-6-1 WHAC) opened scoring crossing the plate once in the first. Concordia answered with two runs in the second and one in the third, taking the lead. In the fourth inning, SHU closed the gap, scoring once. In the final inning, Ashley Hemink doubled to score Agers. Hailey Fox went in to run for Helmink and scored on a walk-off single by Kenya Keller to give the Saints the victory. Keller went 2-for-4 at the plate and finished with two RBI's. Lindsay Brandon pitched the full game and grabbed the win, recording four strikeouts.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, April 15, when they take on Lawrence Tech in a WHAC double-header at the SHU Softball Field. Game one is set to begin at 1 p.m.
