Softball Falls Twice to #7 Davenport

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped two contests to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent No. 7 Davenport, on Sunday. SHU dropped game one 8-0 and game two 10-3.

The Saints battled out of the bases loaded in the first inning and kept the Panthers quiet in the second inning. But DU capitalized on SHU errors and added three runs in the third and fifth innings while scoring solo runs in the fourth and seventh, the Saints unable to respond.

Starting in the circle for Siena Heights was Lesley Ducat who threw for 4.2 innings and suffered the loss. She allowed 10 hits and seven runs, only two of the runs earned. Kayla Kormos relieved Ducat for the final 2.1 innings, allowing four hits and an earned run. Taking the win for DU was Emily Maves, striking out two and allowing five hits.

Davenport (29-3, 7-1 WHAC) came out to a quick start in the second contest, scoring three runs in the first, two in the second and one in both the third and fourth innings. Siena Heights pushed two runners across the plate in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-2. The Panthers scored three more in the top of the seventh and the Saints added one in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers claimed the second game.

She was relieved by Kormos in the sixth inning who allowed two hits and three runs.
