Softball Sweeps a Pair from Rochester

The Siena Heights Softball Team swept a pair of games from Rochester College, winning the first game 7-3 and the second 8-0.

In game one, Lesley Ducat got the in, throwing five innings, striking out five and allowing only one hit.  Lauren Best finished the game throwing the final two innings, allowing no earned runs.

Offensively, the Saints were solid from top to bottom in the lineup.  Kyndle Wolfinger had two hits and a run scored, Hayley Turk added a pinch hit two RBI single, Kenya Keller added a hit and a run scored, Jessica Sierak had a pinch hit single, Kris Forest went 2-2 with two triples and two RBI, Megan Jones added an RBI, Hannah Bleikamp had a hit and a run scored, Jordan Bianchi scored a run, Ducat was 2-2 with an RBI, Best and Katie Hybl each scored a run, and Hailey Fox added the final Saints hit.

In game two, the Saints jumped out to a four run lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back.  Kayla Kormos threw the complete game on the mound, striking out four and allowing only two hits.

Offensively, the Saints had a wide spread of production with Keller notching a hit and two RBI, Forest had another two hit game with a double and a triple and a RBI, Jones added a hit and a run, Bleikamp added a two RBI double, Turk had a hit and a run scored, Fox added a hit and a run scored, and Carly Petri added a RBI.

With the wins, the Saints move to 16-4-1 on the season.  They will return to action on Saturday when they face off with Indiana Tech.  The games will be played at Siena Heights, but they will be the visiting team.  Additionally, the protested game with the University of Findlay on March 28th was upheld, so the teams will either find a date to replay the game from the point of protest, or the game becomes a no contest.
